The LORD is my light and salvation - whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1![]()
A man was walking down a very dark and unfamiliar road late at night. His car had broken down and he decided that he would go for help. It was pitch black. Clouds blocked any light from the sky.
As he walked, he gingerly took each step hoping to stay on the road. Suddenly, he slipped off the edge and found himself falling. Certain that he was falling to his death somewhere below, he desperately reached out for something to break his fall. His hand found a bush growing from the side the hill and he hung on for dear life.
His calls for help were in vain. His arms grew weaker by the moment. He was tired and afraid. As his grasp slipped and he began to fall, he thought he was going to die. A moment later, however, his feet landed on the soft, grassy bottom of the ravine. He was exhausted, but relieved. If only he had let go sooner! Safety was only inches away.
As we face the troubles and dangers of life, we often forget that help is close by. But “the LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18
). Worried about your sins? Afraid of death? Concerned about the future? Don't be. Your LORD and Savior is always there for you. Don't be afraid! Just let go! Put your trust in the LORD!
Prayer: Hurricanes, floods, terrorist attacks, illness, disease, sin and Satan - we are constantly surrounded by dangers. With you at our side, LORD, we need never be afraid. Teach me to turn my troubles and cares over to you. You are my help and my salvation. Amen.

AS YOU MAKE YOUR PLANS FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S keep in mind our worship schedule for here at Trinity South:
Christmas Eve Children’s Service 6:00 PM
Joint Christmas Eve Candlelight @ Calvary in Thiensville 10:30 PM
Christmas Day Service 9:00 AM
New Year’s Eve Communion 7:00 PM
THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will again have rehearsals for Christmas Eve on the Saturdays before Christmas. Watch your bulletin for those dates and times, or a note will be coming home with the children. Parents please have your children here for these rehearsals each week. We need the practice so that the children are ready to share the Word of God in word and song on Christmas Eve. We never want to take the Word of God lightly, but always give it our full and best attention.
REMEMBER YOU CAN GIVE SCRIP GIFT CARDS THIS CHRISTMAS. We have an updated list of merchants that take part in the scrip program. Most of the scrip is in the form of gift cards that can be used in the store, online or for catalog purchases. We have several new merchants and some fantastic special offers through Thanksgiving so talk to Mary Weinrich and get all the details. This is an easy way to financially help out our church too.
FINANCIAL NEWS: We are currently running over $10,000 short of meeting our ministry plan for this year. This is not good news. Certainly we hear every day about our nation’s economy and the bad times we are living in, but are we really living in hard times? If someone is going hungry in our congregation, no one told me. If someone is losing their house, I haven’t heard of it. Yes, interest rates are down, that hurts those who have savings, but it helps those who have a mortgage. Yes the stock market is volatile, but that’s what the market does.
Please take inventory of the gifts God has entrusted to you for this earthly life. Trust him to provide in future as he has always done in the past. (Daily bread as we pray in the Lord’s Prayer.) Be bold with your gifts. “Test me see if I will not throw open the flood gates of heaven.” The Lord said in Malachi 3:10
.
If each of us will do our part, according to the gifts God has given us, we can do even more than we planned.
If you want to see your year to date statement, let me know and I will run a copy for you or give you the total to date. It saves time and money if I only make copies for those who want them at this point.
FINALLY, so that we can save on postage, and for quicker delivery of your newsletter, via email, please send me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so that I can add your address to my file. This will save our congregation a few dollars over the course of the year on paper and postage costs.
In Christ,
